In 2024, Act2gether Bolivia advanced efforts to strengthen the national system of child and adolescent participation through two interlinked activities: the ongoing support to the Plurinational Committee of Children and Adolescents, and the third phase of the project Mi Participación Cuenta (My Participation Counts), in partnership with the ALALAY Foundation and Solidaridad Internacional Dinamarca.
Supporting the Plurinational Committee (2023–2025)
Since 2021, Act2gether Bolivia has accompanied the development of the Plurinational Committee of Children and Adolescents alongside UNICEF Bolivia and the Vice Ministry of Equal Opportunities. For the current 2023–2025 cycle, a civil society support network has been established to provide technical, logistical, and financial assistance.
In early 2024, Act2gether facilitated a series of online trainings and planning workshops for the Committee, culminating in its first official Assembly held in La Paz from 10 to 12 April. The Assembly created enabling conditions for children to engage with national authorities, present their concerns, and collectively define the Committee’s work plan.
Strengthening Municipal and Departmental Committees
Through Mi Participación Cuenta, Act2gether supported the strengthening of 21 Municipal Committees and 9 Departmental Committees, with particular emphasis on Santa Cruz. A national meeting of Departmental Committees provided a space for experience sharing, agenda-setting, and mutual learning.
A national mapping of child participation committees was also completed, achieving full coverage across Bolivia’s 339 municipalities. This milestone provides critical insights for enhancing the reach and structure of the participation system in future cycles.
As part of the project, a representative group of children was formed to monitor Bolivia’s progress on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), ensuring that their perspectives inform the follow-up of international commitments. The group reflects a commitment to inclusive representation across the country’s diverse territories.
By combining structured support with rights-based facilitation, Act2gether is helping embed participation into Bolivia’s governance fabric—locally, nationally, and internationally.
