Act2gether Netherlands – Co-creating Tools for Holistic Well-being

In the Netherlands, Act2gether is partnering with Jimmy’s, on a project that empowers young people to take the lead in shaping their own mental and emotional well-being. Funded by the Triodos Foundation, the initiative combines intergenerational co-creation with holistic approaches to youth mental health—centred on trust, emotional insight, and practical reflection.

A Three-Phase Journey Led by Young People

The project is structured into three phases, each designed to build capacity, test tools, and generate insight:

Phase 1: Foundation

A two-day training at Jimmy’s brought together six young people to explore the foundations of well-being, engage in dialogue, and test reflective practices. The training introduced key tools and created space for shared understanding and connection.

Phase 2: Expansion

A follow-up online session built on this momentum, focusing on the practical application of the Success Tool and exploring individual and collective pathways to well-being.

Phase 3: Collective Experience

At a three-day youth festival held in a forest setting, over 50 participants took part in peer-led workshops and nature-based activities. These included storytelling, dialogue circles, reflective time offline, and the Negative Feelings Tool—all designed to surface what well-being means in practice, and how it can be nurtured in community.

Toward a Participatory Toolkit

Throughout the process, young people have co-created the content and direction of the upcoming Boost Your Wellbeing toolkit, set to launch in the coming months. The resource captures youth insights, tested tools, and facilitation methods that support mental and emotional well-being through an accessible, participatory lens.

Once released, the toolkit will be shared in schools, youth hubs, and intergenerational learning spaces, encouraging open conversations about well-being and equipping young people with the tools to support one another.

By trusting young people as creators—not just participants—this initiative is fostering emotional literacy, leadership, and long-term change in how well-being is understood and supported.
