“Municipios Amigos de la Niñez” (Child-Friendly Municipalities) is a UNICEF program that accredits municipalities address children’s rights with children’s involvement in decision-making aboutr policies and programmes.

Act2gether in Bolivia has actively supported the development of this programme by carrying out methodological design, collecting information through a comprehensive survey, and systematising the data. A consultation was carried out with children from different committees throughout Bolivia in order to assess the state of municipalities regarding well-being, accessibility, and security.

Children acknowledged that currently, no municipality meets child-friendly standards. They concluded that beyond infrastructure —the main focus of most municipal administrations—efforts should concentrate on fostering human qualities and developing safe spaces for participation with openness, the support of trained professionals, and the commitment from authorities.

Act2gether will continue promoting intergenerational collaboration and active child participation. We are happy to help provide spaces for children to express their needs and make their voices heard in decision-making processes.
